A branch of the Scouts was formed in Hawick in 1908, shortly after the founding of the Scouting Movement by Lord Baden Powell, and the first mention of a Pipe Band appeared in 1914 as the Hawick Boy Scouts Pipe Band...

The Ancient Sutherland tartan

The earldom of Sutherland dates from the 13th century, and is the oldest in Britain. Hawick Scout Pipe Band are proud to wear this historic tartan, introduced many years ago by a Scout leader of that name.
